Broadland Students Help Local Community

Posted on May 18, 2016

Over the last six weeks 6 Year 7 students have helped at Wroxham Library on a “Get Digital” course. They helped the “Beginners to IT” group with how to use the internet and email. 3 members of the group have managed to email the school to say how well are pupils had done and that they were all a credit to our school, which shows that the course has been a success.

Year 8 students are currently helping at “Bounce and Rhyme” sessions on a Tuesday afternoon. The pupils have been interacting with parents and young children in the community. This involves reading, role play and singing.

We have also been supporting the library, where 6 of our Year 9 students are getting involved in a library consultation to promote the use of the local library and their current promotion called “Shelf Help”. The students will be designing a PowerPoint to be shown to all KS3 tutor groups next term. The idea behind “shelf help” is for students to be able to access books which have been chosen by young people and health experts to help them through difficult feelings and experiences in their life.
