GCSE Students Meet Stars

Y11 GCSE students met stars of stage and screen when they took a trip to the Pineapple Dance Studio and Phoenix Theatre, London.

On 3 November Mrs Clary took her Year 11 Drama students to London to watch a performance of the musical Blood Brothers, which they are studying for one of their GCSE units of work. The students also had a drama workshop with two of the main cast members at the Pineapple Dance Studio. One group of students worked with Simon Willmott who plays Eddie in the play, and the other group worked with Michael Southern, who plays bad boy Sammy. All students threw themselves into the workshop and enjoyed it tremendously. “It was an amazing experience working with professional actors. It gave us all something to aspire to,” said one of the students.

The icing on the cake came at lunchtime when one group of students bumped into former Pop Idol and winner of Opera Star Darius Campbell and former Ugly Betty star America Ferrera, who were having a break from rehearsal in the coffee shop. Both were really nice and were happy to pose for pictures and have a chat with our students. They are currently starring together in Chicago at the Garrick Theatre in the West End.
